Neighbor Connect is a functional connection of one neighbor’s skill to another neighbor’s need through databasing and categorizing the services volunteers can offer our community.
Today when people are struggling, they often turn to impersonal bureaucratic systems for help. Not that long ago, neighbors were the first to respond to need in their communities. We believe it should be like that again. It's why we created Neighbor Connect.
If you would like to use your skills and gifts, please join us in meeting the needs and blessing those in the Joplin community and the surrounding areas. We will contact you periodically when someone comes to us with a need that fits your abilities and schedule.
Rob, from Carterville Christian Church, has been diligent in helping an elderly lady, who's legally blind, with her yard. (She's getting ready to sell her home!) He has gone there twice and she is so pleased! So grateful for the dedication to serving those who are in need!
My hat's off to Gary, from St. Peters Church of Joplin! I requested help for an elderly woman, who had a yard to be mowed and brush removed. Within 24 hours, the job was done! Thanks, Gary, for your amazing work ethic, attention to detail and the kindness you showed a woman who just moved here.
What a help we received from Joe, who coordinated a move with some volunteers from The Forge (Riley, Blake and James)! The elderly couple was so appreciative of the help and made several follow-up calls to make certain we all knew it! Thanks, Joe, for coordinating the project and The Forge 'stars' that made this job move forward seemlessly!
What an amazing transformation Stephen, from Lighthouse Ministries, has done to Gary's home. He has picked up and installed siding on several weekends. His act of kindness is making a huge difference in Gary's outlook as well. We are grateful for your commitment to your 'neighbors' here in Joplin!
Kevin really helped helped out Greg by not only driving him to his eye surgery, but staying with him and taking him back home. What a great way to be Jesus' hands and feet! Thanks Kevin for your kindness!
Carolyn, from Fellowship Baptist Church, went above and beyond helping Mary and Bill get to their doctor's appointments. She not only drove them there, assisted in getting them to the correct clinic, but now has committed to future transportation needs. WOW! Now that's really being a 'neighbor'! Thanks Carolyn!
Thanks to Morgan, Caden and Jacob for their help to move Ann into her new apartment. She was so appreciative of your hard work and dedication. Thanks for being Jesus' hands and feet. We are grateful for your service.
Kevin was a big help in repairing Terri's mower so she could get back out and start mowing her yard again. A big thanks to Kevin for being such a blessing to the Neighbor Connect program over the years. We appreciate his continued service and willingness to serve those who need a hand. Thanks, Kevin!
Thanks to Chuck in Neosho for fixing Geneva's guttering! It was a big blessing to her because it needed repaired for quite some time. Many thanks, Chuck!
Thank you Stacy from Racine Christian for taking Tracy to her medical procedure. She was very grateful and would have had to cancel the appointment without her willingness to help. Thanks for serving!
A huge shout out to Kevin, Morgan, Leslie, Keith, and Caden for helping Janice move her belongings into storage! Janice would have been unable to get her furniture moved without the help of this group. It's amazing when you see people willing to come together to serve and help those in our community. Thanks again!
Daniel from CHCC was a big help to Charles, a disabled veteran in Joplin. We appreciate Daniel for taking the time to help in a variety of ways over the weekend. What a blessing to Charles and the Neighbor Connect program!
Thank you to Tom from Wellspring!!! He has been working side by side with Joe for the last several months on a home repair. Not only is he a handyman, but a relationship builder. Thank you Tom for investing in Joe!
A big thanks to Anna for helping BG with her laundry while she's been sick. BG was overwhelmed and stressed until Anna blessed her by taking several loads to the laundromat and then delivering them back home, freshly washed and folded. Thanks for being a servant, Anna!
Thanks to Scotty and Kathryn from Impact, for taking Julie to a doctor's appointment in Nevada. She had to cancel one time before and was worried she wasn't going to make it a second time. They were a true blessing in a time of need. Thanks for stepping up and serving Julie in such a big way!
Thank you Kevin from CHCC, for laying flooring in the kitchen at Samantha's house this weekend. She was able to get moved into her first home. Thank you for being such a blessing!
Thank you Mike and Tabitha for fixing the heater on BG's car. She can now get to and from her doctor's appointments this winter, safely and comfortably. Thanks again for showing compassion and generosity.
